Introducing the 2021 BMW 5 Series

Capital BMW of Tallahassee is proud to announce the latest lineup of BMW 5 Series Sedans. Come in and let us show you how they’ve improved this 7th generation series with upgraded interior and exterior designs, new technology, better aerodynamics, and the ingenious 48-volt mild hybrid system. These cars are definitely worth a look and a test drive. Visit us soon and let our friendly sales staff put you behind the wheel of one of these amazing vehicles.

Aerodynamic and Eye-Catching Exterior Features

One glance at the new BMW 5 Series sedan will reveal its cleaner surface design and more sweeping profile. Especially notable is the new wider and taller one-piece front Kidney Grille flanked by resculpted headlamps. Not only does this new design enhance the overall look of the sedan, but the 1.2 inches of additional length produces an aerodynamic profile that achieves a Cx (aerodynamic finesse score) as low as 0.27.

The rear view of the sedan takes on a new look as well, with new standard trapezoidal tailpipe finishers seamlessly integrated into the lower bumper, and new rear L-shaped taillights with black edging and three-dimensional lenses.

The M550i xDrive sedan includes the eye-catching features of BMW’s new M Sport Package and adds a rear trunk lid spoiler for an exciting new look and aerodynamic functionality. To complete the update, the side mirror caps, Kidney Grill surround, front air intake inlays, Air Breather, and model lettering are all enhanced by a Cerium Grey finish which contrasts nicely with the black chrome dual trapezoidal exhaust finishers and high-gloss black window surrounds.

Interior Upgrades That Please the Senses

Comfort upgrades in the new 5 Series sedans include standard Sport seats (with M Multi-contour seats on the M550i xDrive) and a 40:20:40 split-folding rear seat. Also standard on all four-cylinder and six-cylinder models are the new Perforated SensaTec upholstery with contrast stitching—a look and feel you’ll love.

For the ultimate in luxury, the M550i xDrive features Dakota Leather seats and Black SensaTec upholstery with brown stitching on the dashboard. Both these features are also optional on all four- and six-cylinder 5 series models.

BMW interior upgrades also proudly feature standard Live Cockpit Professional with iDrive 7 on all 2021 5 Series sedans. This system is full of amenities to make driving more effortless, including a 12.3in digital instrument display, 12.3in digital central touchscreen control display (previously 10.25in), Standard Navigation, and Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto compatibility.

The navigation on Live Cockpit Professional is enhanced with 3D visualizations of your surroundings shown in the central section of your instrument display. Highlighting and graphics on the display offer suggestions for maneuvers and driver-assist systems appropriately suited to your road situation.

Improvements in the new digital cloud-based feature called BMS Maps helps you calculate faster routes based on real-time traffic data and hazard warnings. The Destination Input Function also lets you search any word entered manually or by voice control, and includes more points of interest with greater detail.

Exciting New Ways to Improve Performance and Economy

Every new 2021 5 series BMW Sedan with a four-, six-, or eight-cylinder engine features the latest BMW TwinPower turbocharging technology. Each new sedan engine also comes standard with High Precision fuel injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve timing, and double-VANOS variable camshaft timing.

The latest version of BMW’s 8-speed, quick-shifting, Steptronic automatic transmission comes with an optimized hydraulic control system for improved efficiency and response time, and new generation torsion dampers that reduce rotational irregularities in the powertrain and enhance both shifting smoothness and driving comfort.

The eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission standard in the M550i xDrive Sedan has been improved to enable faster gear changes, sportier shifting, and quick manual gear changes while using the steering wheel shift paddles.

For better fuel economy, the six-cylinder sedan series now offers the mild-hybrid system, which utilizes a 48-volt starter-generator and a second battery. This improves efficiency by using Brake Energy Regeneration to transform kinetic energy into electricity which can be stored in the extra battery. This is increased exponentially when the Driving Experience Control switch is set to SPORT mode.

The 2021 BMW 530e and 530e xDrive sedans also received an upgrade, adding the latest in eDrive technology to enhance performance and power. In these two vehicles, the 181 horsepower 2.0-liter gasoline engine, the 107 horsepower electric drive unit, the 8-speed transmission, SPORT mode, and the new XtraBoost feature combine to offer an additional 40 horsepower over the previous 530e models.

BMW Driver Assistance Systems at Your Service

Making your drive safer and easier is always a top priority for BMW. One way they do this is by including a host of Standard Assist features on all 5 Series sedans. These include the Lane Departure Warning system with Steering Correction, Frontal Collision and Pedestrian Warning with Braking Function, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Rear Collision Preparation, Automatic High Beams, and Speed Limit Information.

They also provide an optional Driving Assistance Plus Package that features Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Extended Traffic Jam Assist for limited access highways (a Level 2 autonomous assist system that reduces fatigue in stop and go freeway traffic by allowing for hands-free vehicle operation), Lane Keeping Assistant with Side Collision Avoidance, Evasion Aid, Front Cross-Traffic Alert, and Emergency Stop Assistant (which guides you to the shoulder and brings you to a halt in a medical emergency situation.)
